The legendary Pocahontas story as been one of deception that has lingered through the times in order to romanticize the treachery that was afflicted upon the indigenous people of America. Pocahontas, whose real name is Matoaka was the daughter of Powhatan paramount chief Wahunsenacawh. She was targeted by the English settlers on various levels in order to usurp the lands of the Native Americans.

The young Empress was kidnapped and raped by English settlers and used as a bargaining chip in attempts to get her father to negotiate. Her father arrived with English captives he set free and a standoff took place before the English reneged on surrendering her as a hostage and then retreated with her still in their possession. She was later sent away with other settlers who would “Christianize” her [Renaming her Rebecca] after her Native American husband Kocoum was murdered and their child Ka-Okee left to be raised by the village. English settler John Rolfe then married her and impregnated her with a child who would later be named Thomas.

In 1616 John Rolfe took her along with their son Thomas on a trip to England in order to persuade investors to pour money into the taking over of indigenous territories. She was paraded around England as a show of him having married into the royal family of Americas as a ruse to seek funding for exploitation of lands. Several investors found interest in the idea and provided funding not excluding the spreading of Christianity. In England she stumbled across Captain John Smith who had caused trouble amongst the natives in America. She expressed to him how he had wronged her people and how his countrymen were mostly liars and deceivers.

In 1617 on the way back to America, Matoaka/Pocahontas was murdered. She was poisoned during a meal aboard the ship and suddenly became extremely ill before dying. John Rolfe now holding the heir to the throne in America sailed back and became an even more successful tobacco planter. Thomas would be the link to Europeans creating an Aristocracy on the shores of American soil.

In 1618 the great Powhatan Chief and father of Pocahontas was poisoned though it is conveniently covered up by the history told through the eyes of the invaders. After this grand conspiracy on the indigenous royal family, it was in the year 1619 that England decided to send the legislative body named the House of Burgesses to Jamestown, Virginia. Note that among this wave of English Settlers to come to America was Dr. John Potts who four years later in 1624 was the one responsible for poisoning over 200 natives during a “peace ceremony” in the same town.

The arrival of the House of Burgesses in 1619 is a very key note in the sequence of historical events that took place. Prior to their arrival the English were basically co-inhabitants of a land that was ruled by a Powhatan King/Chief. By killing the royal family after securing an heir through a European dynasty they were now persuaded to send “Law Makers” under the guise of the House of Burgesses. Before the assassination of the family, the Europeans were unable to create “Laws” because the land belonged to the natives. Thomas the son of Pocahontas and grandson of the Chief of Chiefs was used to gain a favorable position for the usurpers and invaders. The House of Burgesses eventually changed its name to the House of Delegates and still serve the same purpose today they did in 1619 when they arrived in Jamestown after the killing of Pocahontas & her father. Though wars ensued with other members of the indigenous royal family, the murder of father and daughter opened the floodgate for English dominion over indigenous territories. War crimes have yet to be administered.
