LEGEND OF BIG FOOT

 

The folklore story of Bigfoot was a concoction & poke at the aboriginal American Chief Spotted Elk who was widely known as Bigfoot. Hollywood has a tendency to find closet humor in its racial depiction of non-white leaders of the world. Chief Spotted Elk of the Lakota tribe was killed during the battle of Wounded Knee. He was the brother of Sitting Bull & uncle of Crazy Horse. It is said that Spotted Elk would wear his long hair loose covering his face at times, hence the mythological Bigfoot would be a hairy creature spotted in the woods. in 1890, he and his tribe were massacred after already surrendering the night before by U.S. forces.
